LIFE SKILLS

Every Recovery Client Needs Life Skills When Leaving Transformations Treatment Center

Transformations Treatment Center knows that one of the most difficult things a recovery client has to face is adjusting to life in the outside world after rehabilitation is completed. When leaving the structured and supportive environment of our treatment center, many recovery clients will normally feel overwhelmed by all the different things that must be faced in everyday life. Because an individual will have spent so much time ignoring basic needs and living only for the addiction, it is up to our staff to point the person in the right direction and help make the transition back into society complete.

The habits of addiction adopted by a person will become the norm and all other areas of life will suffer and be forgotten. Addiction involves habitual behavior patterns of drug seeking and substance abuse, dealing with the intensive cravings and fighting compulsive urges that will prevent a person from having a normal life. Instead of living a good quality of life, an addict does whatever is necessary to feed the addiction and nothing else will matter. The staff and rehabilitation experts at Transformations know that in order to adjust to a sober life, a person must relearn positive behavior patterns and be shown how to adopt better life skills.

climbBecause the reality of facing "everyday" life can be confusing and seem complicated, Transformations seeks to instill a certain level of skills and knowledge within each client. We have a comprehensive program involving "Life Skills for Addicts," which contains all the vital facets a recovery client needs to overcome addiction and succeed at living a sober life. We take the recovery and ongoing sobriety of our recovery clients seriously and have come up with a detailed plan of action in order to help the individual embrace a sober life outside of our facility.

One of the most important things a recovery client needs is aftercare and outpatient services, we know that making the adjustment to life outside of our treatment center can be complicated for some addicts, which is why it is so imperative to prepare the individual beforehand. Transformations Treatment Center provides our clients with all the information needed to find important resources such as aftercare and an outpatient rehab centers in the area the person lives. These things are vital to the recovery client and we gladly provide referral information and make sure the individual has what they need when leaving our facility.

Another important aspect in the life of a recovering addict is to know the location of medical services if needed. Many clients find themselves going through a variety of special health needs when trying to work through detoxing and withdrawing from substance abuse. Transformations Treatment Center goes the extra mile to make certain that our clients are able to receive affordable medical services, which can be a necessity if the person is going through a relapse period. For clients that are using prescription maintenance drugs to reduce cravings or those who are taking a medication to treat an addiction related health problem, we help the person get enrolled into an assistance program to help defray some of the costs for those with limited financial resources.

Other skills a recovery client needs to learn to live successfully in society are time management, securing emplohandsyment and many others. After leaving Transformations Treatment Center, a client needs to have a regimented schedule to improve time utilization. With goal setting and successful time management skills, a person will not leave rehabilitation and feel overwhelmed by various different responsibilities. By teaching our clients how to prioritize time and participate in constructive daily living activities, the individual is able to achieve the balance in life that addiction took away.

When transitioning back into society, many recovery clients find the need to secure gainful employment. One aspect that is heavily encouraged by our staff is for the individual to become educated or improve upon current computer skills and other job-related skills. Part of being successful into today's world is to be a highly marketable in the job market, our team of professionals will work with the client to teach basic computer skills which are an asset to many potential employers.

In addition to teaching our clients basic computer skills, the person will also learn how to use different word processing programs, format spreadsheets and various accounting software applications. With improved computer skills, a person becomes more knowledgeable about the different tools needed in today's competitive job industry. Transformations Treatment Center also assist the client with resume building, job searching, filling out an application, interviewing skills and teaches an individual how to properly address cover letters and send out resumes. We know that gaining employment can be one of the most nerve-wracking things a recovery client can face and we provide the information and training a person needs to make it easier to find a job.

hands-airOften a recovery client will not have had gainful employment in quite awhile nor needed to take care of basic household and financial responsibilities. We know it can be very intimidating for a recovery client to handle financial obligations, so our professionals teach the person how to balance a budget and live successfully within monetary means. Our Life Skills Program teaches a recovery client how to open a bank account, balance a checkbook and pay bills each month in a timely manner. Transformations Treatment Center teaches a recovery client how important it is to keep track of finances and evaluate spending from an objective standpoint, which leads to responsible spending and saving habits.

Life after rehabilitation is bound to be challenging and filled with daily obstacles and our team of caring and compassionate professionals understands and want to help make it easier. The Life Skills Program at Transformations allows a recovery client to learn various skills and tools which make reintegrating into society a successful endeavor. We teach our clients a variety of different life skills and help them build a successful, meaningful future which includes a lasting and complete recovery.
