ARE NEW JERSEY CHRISTIAN REHAB CLINICS AND OTHER ANTI-DRUG AUTHORITIES DOING ENOUGH?

With New Jersey being one of the bigger states in America from a population perspective, it can be an uphill battle for the organisations who are trying to reduce the amount of drugs that are readily available for those who live in the area. This article looks at what New Jersey authorities and centres of treatment, like Christian rehab in New Jersey, are doing to try and control the situation. Additionally, we will look at some of the key weaknesses that remain in the efforts which are being conducted.

One of the arguments which could back the claims that New Jersey are doing all they can to try and limit the impact that drug abuse can have on the state can be found through the existence of the Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, which is commonly shortened to the GCADA. This essential feature in the state's anti-drug efforts works behind the scenes to ensure that other organisations which are trying to reduce the impact that drugs have work seamlessly. Additionally, they also aim to question whether or not enough is being done for the vulnerable citizens of New Jersey, and whether or not resources are being used in the best ways possible.

A key advantage of the anti-drug organisations which are in place in the state is the way that they are all highly connected to the media outlets which are in New Jersey. The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is one of these organisations, which also conducts frequent events that keep the awareness of how dangerous drugs are amongst the public high. A great thing about this organisation is the way that it is trying to stem the problem by tackling drug usage among the young. One of the more recent incentives conducted by the initiative was to encourage parents to spend more time with their teenagers, as it can significantly reduce the statistical odds that the teenager in question will try marijuana by up to two thirds.

Some of the stigmas and myths which are associated with drug consumption are believed to be getting in the way of progress. One myth that surrounds addiction in New Jersey is that the family and friends of a person who is addicted to prescription drugs are entirely blameless for the addict's problem. With over 70% of those who have abused such drugs getting their fixes from their families and friends' cupboards, this myth couldn't be further from the truth.

Christian rehab in New Jersey is also playing its role in reducing the amount of addicts which are on the streets and who are suffering because of their vulnerability. According to 2008 figures, New Jersey rehabilitation clinics are taking as much as 20% more cases as they were in 2006, showing that they are proactively trying to help the local community. This is contrary to the data in other states which shows the amount of people who are in rehab to be falling. Even though this could be mistaken for a good statistic, it only shows that in actuality, the rehabs of a state are only helping less people.

All of the anti-drug organisations are giving a lot back to the communities of New Jersey who can't battle the negative impact that drugs have on a neighbourhood on their own. However, there is still an incredible amount of work which can be done before the state can truly say that their problem with illegal substances is fully under control. Nearly 2% of the population of New Jersey have claimed that despite all of the initiatives that are in place to help vulnerable people like them, they are not getting the support they need. This works out at around 140,000 people who need to be treated for a dependency which they have accrued. There is some good news though, as this percentage is lower than the data which is seen in other neighbouring states.

Hard work is the only thing that is going to allow New Jersey to move forward and prosper, without having drug abuse in its way. With the overwhelming drug threat in the state being heroin (and this represented by the way that there are more admissions for heroin than any other drug), there is a lot of this hard work to do. It is unfortunate that heroin is one of the most addictive drugs which are in existence and that there are thousands of people who are desperate for a stint in rehab to try and have a chance to move on with their lives.
