Christian Rehabs

Christian rehabs, on the surface, look like every other type of non-Christian drug rehab. When one looks closer, however, the Christian-centric drug rehab has far more to offer a recovering addict than a drug rehab that is based only on therapy and drug abstinence. Both types of drug rehabs are able to help addicts and alcoholics get sober, but most addicts find more benefit in the accepting community that is developed in a Christian environment. Addicts that are Christian often discover that they cannot find the support they crave at a secular drug rehab center. Christian rehabs provide exactly what they are looking for.
How can you tell when it is time for you to seek out Christian rehabs (or to find one for someone you know)? There are several telling signs:  The biggest sign that it is time to seek help for addiction or alcoholism is if your (or your friend’s) behavior has changed dramatically since the addiction or alcoholism took hold. If, before you started using, you were a social person who enjoyed going out with friends and now you choose to stay home because you’d rather get high alone than go to a place that does not allow drugs, it is time to seek help. If you hide your drug use from the people you care about or actively lie about how often you use drugs, this is a bad sign. When you hide who you are it is a sign of your subconscious telling you that who you are and what you are doing are wrong!
As already mentioned, secular, non-Christian rehabs and Christian rehabs are a lot alike:
Both Christian drug rehab programs and programs that are secular in nature have in-patient facilities and out-patient clinics. The type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that is best for you depends on your system of social support and the strength of your addiction.
Both secular drug rehab centers and Christian drug rehabs place a heavy emphasis upon counseling and therapy. An addict will receive individual counseling as well as participate in group therapy sessions.
While both types of drug rehab programs utilize the latest developments in addiction treatment and therapy methods, Christian rehabs have more to offer than science and therapy. Christian rehabs require clients to attend bible study classes and philosophical and inspirational lectures. Clients at a Christian rehab will attend regular church services. They will be taught about Christian philosophy and the teachings of Jesus Christ. They will learn how to incorporate these lessons and teachings in their own life and use them as inspiration to stay drug free.
Deciding what kind of Christian rehab is best for you will take some work and requires that addicts be very honest with themselves. Rehab should not be based upon who the addict wishes to become once he is sober. It needs to be based upon who he is now and what he is most likely to respond to. Someone who thrives on conflict and confrontation will not fare well in a coddling and comforting environment. Someone who is shy will not do well in a social-based rehab center.
Christian rehabs can help drug addicts achieve sobriety even after they have relapsed back into drug addiction. The biggest reason for this is the strong community that is fostered in a Christian environment. Regular church attendance and supportive community associated with it is easily found in the outside world. The addict only needs to join his local church and start attending on a regular basis. The existing church community will provide the positive support he needs to stay off of drugs. Christian rehabs teach addicts to find their faith in a higher power and how to find comfort in the ever present Holy Spirit. They are taught how to let their addictive personalities seek out God instead of drugs.
The largest benefit that is offered by a Christian rehab is the positive pressure that is provided by the church and the people who attend it. This gives the recovering addict a community of people who will help him stay sober instead of simply hoping that he stays away from drugs. Church attendance gives the drug addict a regular schedule to depend upon. Christian rehabs are some of the best options for an addict who wants to stay sober and not relapse.
