Just like a robber never admits to stealing, an addict never admits to addiction. The 12-step program employed by most of the Christian rehab centers begins with admission of the problem by the addict.
However, an addict is almost always in denial. They do not know how drugs are affecting them and if somebody else tries to point it out, they will feel offended. To enter a rehab, even at the insistence of somebody else, the person has to first understand and accept that he has a problem of addiction. While weighing the pros and cons of getting admitted to a rehab, bear in mind the following factors:
- Find out the programs and modules followed in the treatment. There are various methods of treating an addict. Faith-based rehabs will follow a procedure that is based on Christ and his teachings. If you are religiously inclined or if you think this could greatly help in recovery, choose such a center.
- Calculate the costs involved. Try and make sure the money is available before admission so that the worry is off the mind once the treatment begins. Check to see if de-addiction is covered in your insurance policy. Seek the help of the administrative staff at the center itself.
- Examine the amenities and facilities at the center. Since the period of stay may be long, it should be comfortable and adjustable. Some centers offer luxury facilities. If you want such a place, search for one likewise.
- Find out how long it will take for complete recovery. And how long should the patient stay at the center. This will also determine the cost and will allow you to make subsequent arrangements in job and other matters.
- The location of the place is an important factor. It is better if an addict is admitted to a rehab facility nearby his home. The familiarity of the neighborhood will make him comfortable. His family and friends can also easily visit him and participate in the recovery process.
These are just some of the factors involved in making a decision about the rehab. Some of the best rehabs in the country are the Christian facilities. These centers are open for all and do not mandate that the patient should be a Christian.
Christian rehabs have somewhat wiped away the possibility of relapses in addicts. Rather than focusing on the addiction in itself, these centers focus on the reasons for the addiction and the removal of these causes. Thus, this method erases the possibility of a relapse because the patent is no longer vulnerable to the earlier factors.
Along with medication and the usual therapy system followed by the traditional rehabs, the faith-based de-addiction units help to dissolve the mental blocks which were formed in the patient’s mind before the addiction. Pastoral counseling helps the patients get closer to God and reinvent their faith in Him and in others.
Rather than following a pattern, the patient is allowed to rediscover himself and understand why he is in the center and how he can fight his own demons. There are many avenues where he can express himself – be it frustration, anger, resistance, disappointment, happiness or a sense of achievement. The group and individual counseling sessions help him to communicate his ideas.
Creative activities are promoted. The patients are given the freedom to choose whatever constructive method of expression they want.
The Christian faith strongly condemns wrongdoers and those who inflict pain and suffering, upon others and themselves. However, at the rehab centers, the patients are not judged by their past actions. They are not reminded of their addictions or the wrongs they did. Forgiveness, kindness and love reign in these centers.
Though Christian practices such as scripture reading, prayers, church worships and religious discussions form part of the treatment program, no patient is forced to do any of these. In due course of time, the recovery process will lead them into following all these.

Most drug treatment centers are not affordable. So most addicts and alcoholics dont get the help that they need. Transformations drug and alcohol treatment have an affordable program. They offer alot to help the addict. They offer more then most.
