Drug Treatment and Alcohol Rehabilitation-What to Look For
Drug Treatment
Looking for the best drug treatment or drug rehabilitation program can be quite a challenge. Many drug addicts are scared to go to drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation. They may have heard the horror stories of withdrawals and are afraid of what they will be forced to deal with once they have gotten into drug treatment and begun to get sober. Make no mistake, getting sober is not an easy thing to do. So how do you choose the right drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation center?
For many, choosing a drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation program depends on finding a place that will work well for their current situations. People with strong family and work obligations are more likely to opt for outpatient drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation program. Someone who is trying to overcome a drug addiction to a drug with dangerous withdrawal symptoms like heroin will be better served with an inpatient drug treatment program. For others, finding an acceptable drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation program will depend on the scientific approach taken by the substance abuse treatment center themselves.
Relapse Prevention
Relapse prevention is a drug and alcohol rehabilitation approach that was originally developed for addicts and alcoholics but has proven successful for cocaine addicts as well. In this type of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program the substance abuse treatment emphasizes the learning of new and better behaviors instead of simply learning to ignore older worse habits. This approach utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy alongside a drug-abstinence only approach to help the drug addicts and alcoholics learn how to tap into his self control and resist the temptations he might find in the regular world.
Matrix Model
The Matrix Model works best with drug addicts who abuse stimulants more than any other type of drug. The drug addict will learn how to deal with drug addiction symptoms and learn what the signs of an impending drug relapse feel like. A substance abuse therapist will work with the drug addict and introduce the addict to a variety of self help type programs and will test the addict’s blood and/or urine on a regular basis to make sure that he or she is staying drug free. This model emphasizes raising the drug addict’s self esteem and rebuilding his sense of self worth. There are a number of drug treatment programs that use this model with great expertise.
Supportive-Expressive Therapy
This type of drug treatment therapy works best with drug addicts who abuse cocaine and heroin. A substance abuse therapist will work with the drug addict to create an environment in which the addict will feel comfortable talking about the experiences he had before entering drug rehab and before getting addicted to drugs-the behaviors and circumstances that helped create and feed his drug addiction. The substance abuse therapist will also work with the addict to develop techniques to help them deal with the situations that make them want to use the most.
It is important that you choose a drug treatment or alcohol rehabilitation program that works well with both who you are and what you are trying to recover from. Each of these techniques can be employed in inpatient and outpatient drug treatment alcohol rehabilitation programs. Make sure that you consider all of your drug treatment and alcohol rehabilitation options.

The first thing I looked for in the last drug and alcohol treatment center i went to was the respect of the staff. It is so inportant that the staff treats you on the same level they would like to treated. I also look for their knowledge of drug and alcohol abuse. What do they know about addiction and alcoholism. It doesnt really matter how long the drug rehab has been around as long as they have a good staff on board.

There are so many different drug and alcohol treatment centers its hard to choose the right one. What are some of the main things I should be looking for? I need a drug treatment center that can also help me spiritualy. Drugs and alcohol werent my problem. They were just a symptom of my problem. My toughest obsticle was me. And how I delt with situations and feelings. So I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb everything. When I decided to get clean and sober I decided to try a christian drug and alcohol treatment center. I needed to work on my spiriyuality as well as my addiction and alcoholism.

There are many to to look for in a drug treatment center. And it depends on what your looking for in your recovery. For me it was simple. I wanted a christian drug and alcohol treatment center. I wanted a drug rehab that focused on mind, body, and spirit. I wanted a drug rehab facility that wasn’t a hospital setting. I wanted a real life situation. Most drug rehabs dont step you down. Once your done with the drug treatment they send you out on your own and thats it. I need a place has a step down drug program something to slowly release me back into the realworld again.

I am willing to go back to a drug and alcohol treatment center. I have been on a relapse now for 6 months. My addiction is running in full force right now. I need to try and get some help now before it gets way out control. Iam looking to get into a christian drug and alcohol treatment center this time and then follow it up with an outpatient drug program. And then go into a halfway house for about a year. I know i can beat addiction and alcoholism if I do all the the things required of me.

Do you have a loved one who is addicted to drugs and alcohol? Are you related to an addict or an alcoholic? If so and you are seeking drug treatment and alcohol rehabilitation this is what to look for. Try to find a drug rehab that has a comfortable living situation, qualified drug therapist. There are a few affordable christian drug rehabs you also look into. The main thing that the addict or alcoholic needs is a loving caring staff who understands their addiction. I has a strong belief in god.

There are a few things that I look for in a drug and alcohol treatment center. First thing is do they promote a 12 step program for drugs and alcohol. Do they have a relapse prevention and lif skills group. And what are there living arrangements. In order to keep me motivated to stay at there drug facility these things are big for me.

The last drug and alcohol rehab I went to focused on three parts- physical-mental-spiritual (mind body and spirit) I believe that I had to have all of these in tact in order for me to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Some treatment centers dont offer all of that. So If you have problems with drugs or alcohol and your looking for a treatment program, make sure they offer those 3 key things. It worked for me it could work for you.

f you aren’t confident in your ability to beat your alcohol addiction on your own you might consider a clinic that offers medication for people who need help beating their cravings. There are out patient clinics that offer drug and alcohol addicts medication to help curb patient cravings and to combat the physical symptoms that come from drug or alcohol withdrawal.
Figuring out which alcoholism treatment center is right for you is one of the most important decisions in your journey toward sobriety. You are more likely to relapse and fall off the wagon if you enroll in an alcohol addiction treatment program that isn’t suited to who you are and what you need. That isn’t meant to frighten you, it is only meant to help you understand how important it is that you choose the right rehab facility.

Certainly the more addicted a person is, the more difficult it will be for them to unlearn their addicted behaviors. Abused drugs can change long-term potentiation (LTP) and long-term depression (LTD) in neuronal circuits involved in the addiction, also adding to the difficulty of overcoming drug and alcohol addiction.

Sometimes it can be hard to spot the signs of alcohol and drug addiction, especially in our modern world. Alcohol is very much a part of the culture and having a few beers is customary in many parts of the world. It seems that many people are willing to except problematic behavior, such as drunkenness, as a part of ordinary life in Western culture. Drinking is pushed on people regardless of age, as a normal rite of passage.
