Faith Based Rehab Information
Faith can be very personal and a relationship with God can be very intimate. Each person’s faith is different and is expressed in different ways. Some people claim to not have any faith at all. It is important to understand, for the purposes of this article, that when this article talks about faith, it means faith in an omnipresent and omnipotent being or “God.” Many former addicts swear that the only thing that helped them overcome their drug and alcohol addiction was faith and working with a faith-based treatment program. While this article does not try to claim that faith based rehab is the best option, it does explore them as a viable option for people who are trying to overcome addiction and alcoholism.
Faith based rehabs take great pride in their faith-based program. There are many people who have been through a faith based rehab offered by drug and alcohol treatment centers and swear by its efficacy. The faith based program operates with the traditional “twelve steps” and helps addicts and alcoholics find their way back to sobriety.
How does a Christian drug addiction treatment work?
Christian Drug Addiction Counseling
While group drug abuse counseling is an integral part to any treatment center, the group drug abuse counseling sessions in a faith based rehab will incorporate biblical ideas: talk about the divine, how to talk to God and ask him for help during sobriety trials and how the history of the Church can be used as a point of strength as a person works to become sober. Twelve Step Recovery
The Twelve Steps have gotten quite famous over the last few decades and they are an integral part to any faith-based drug treatment program. “Working the steps” is a concept familiar to addicts of all stripes and many find this “roadmap” toward addiction recovery comforting (even when it proves to be a challenge). The twelve steps walk a person suffering from a drug addiction from the very beginning of recovery (admitting there is a problem) to living a sober life, free of drugs and alcohol.
Church
Most faith based rehabs will incorporate some time in Church. Many people who go through a faith-based drug rehab program find comfort in the routine and predictability of Church and attending regular services. While the point of going to services is to gain inspiration from the divine, many addicts and alcoholics take great comfort even in the routine of Church itself. The familiar routine helps drug addicts and alcoholics cope with the rocky road that encompasses getting sober.
Meditation and Reading Scriptures
People who enroll in faith based rehab can count on spending some time studying the scriptures in the Old and New Testaments. This is a program that draws upon the scriptures for inspiration and advice on how to forge a new way in the world once an addict has gotten sober. There are study sessions and individual therapy meetings in which the addict and his/her counselor or study groups will examine bible verse and scripture and discuss its meaning and how that particular verse can help guide them toward sobriety.

I live in Delray beach Florida. In this city we have many faith based treatment programs. C to go. A mix of therapy and christian drug treatment seems to be the way that most addicts and alcoholics are getting clean and sober these days. With the belief of a higher power and unique drug therapy tactics we can achieve sobriety.

Faith based rehabs can help you in ways traditional rehabs cant. Christian drug treatment centers add the missing link that you need to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Addiction is a powerful disease but with christian drug treatment and therapy it can be beaten.

Is faith based drug treatment better than traditional drug and alcohol? I’m planning on going to a drug treatment center in florida. And I have to decide whether to go to a traditional drug rehab or a christian drug program. I just want to get off of drugs and alcohol. I think I would prefer a faith based program to help me with my heroin addiction.

Is a christian drug and alcohol center center just as good as a traditional drug and alcohol facility? I can only tell you from my own expirience. For me they both did the job. But when I came out of the christian treatment center I felt more fulfilled. I felt more spiritual I actually had some faith and some hope! They both offered the therapyfor alcoholism and addiction help. But I needed just a little bit more than that. I have god in my life today. And I believe he wants me to to have a wonderful life and have joy and happiness.

There is no where to get to – the journey is all there ever is. There are those who will tell you that you must have a destination. I believe that if we are focused on a destination, we may become caught up in trying to get there and miss something drug addiction will hold us back. Drug treatment can give us our lives back.

When most people think of a drug addiction problem, their minds go automatically to old movies. A junkie shivering on a street corner, selling her body for her next fix, or a tragic old man lying in a gutter with a needle in his arm, or even a college girl snorting a line of cocaine in a frat house bathroom during a wild party.

Of course, chronic drug abuse requires a different kind of drug treatment while for less severe cases the treatment is generally completed in shorter time frames. Families as well as parents must also play an important role in the successful completion of any rehab program.
