Christian Treatment-Deciding to Go
It’s important to understand that the decision to go to Christian treatment is never an easy one to make. Christian treatment is something that some people struggle with for years before they decide that getting sober is not something that they can do on their own. It is also important to understand that having an addiction to drugs or alcohol is not something that you should be ashamed of. In fact, making the decision to seek Christian treatment for your drug or alcohol addiction is quite courageous. It says a lot about your inner strength that you are able to say, “I cannot handle using and I need help.”
Christian treatment professionals know that you are probably frightened of what will happen after you pick up the phone to set up your Christian rehabilitation program. The staff of Christian treatment programs know that, especially in the beginning, many people struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction are afraid of what they will encounter at drug rehabilitation. It is because the staff is so compassionate that they will do everything they can to ease the transition from struggling with sobriety in the “outside world” to healing and regaining your sobriety in a supportive environment.
It is all fine and good to know that you will be treated well once you’ve made the decision to go to Christian treatment. The problem arises when you aren’t sure if going to drug rehabilitation is the right decision. Here are some of the signs that you should look for that will tell you whether or not you are equipped to deal with your drug addiction or alcoholism yourself:
You start to have physical withdrawal symptoms when it’s been a while since your last “fix”. Your hands might shake, you might get cold sweats or heart palpitations, you might feel nauseous, etc.
You cannot stop yourself from using after “just a little bit.” You might intend to just hang out with friends, but you wake up the next morning not remembering the night before.
You find that you don’t have time for your other interests because getting wasted is more important and you don’t have time to do both.
Your level of paranoia has increased to the point where you are sure that each person you pass on the street can tell that you have a drug or alcohol problem and you’ve become very defensive.
The amount of drugs that you need to get drunk, high or stoned has increased dramatically since you first started using. For example-it used to take only a few drinks to get drunk. Now you’re downing entire bottles of hard liquor before feeling even buzzed.
Your family and friends keep trying to get you into a Christian treatment program for your drug and alcohol abuse.
You are moving up the chain of drugs. While you might have just needed a couple of beers to get wasted when you first started using, now you need pills or other, harder, substances to have the same effect.
You have started to take drugs to cure you from the effect of other drugs. Amphetamines in the morning to cure a hangover from the night before. Valium to calm down from too much speed, etc. You cannot let the drugs leave your system naturally.
Overcoming drug addiction or alcoholism and working toward sobriety is difficult, but that is not nearly as difficult as making the first phone call in which you admit that you need help. Asking for help takes courage but it is the strong and sensible thing to do. Christian Treatment offers those who suffer from drug addiction and alcoholism hope. Once you make the decision and take the leap of faith, you can live a clean and sober lifestyle.

I cant understand why anyone who has a an addiction to drugs or alcohol wouldnt want to go to a christian drug treatment center. Drugs and alcohol are powerful. Why wouldnt you want the most powerful thing in ever to be in your life working with you? my opinion if addiction and alcoholism is a part of your life why not go to a christian drug facility.

i am going on 5 months clean and sober. There are some issues that i am dealing with that make my addict mind start to kick in. I just have to remember that drugs and alcohol will only make things worse. drugs and alcohol will not help anything. I have lived the lie to many times. this time around addiction is not going to win. All though I enjoyed my stay at my last christian drug and alcohol rehab i still dont want to go back to one. Just believe in god and believe that he has got my back and everything will be alright.

my story is not unique in any way. Im an addict and alcoholic who used drugs and alcohol as a way of escape. My addiction and alcoholism may do things I thought that I would never do and hurt people I thought I would never hurt. When I finally became willing to get clean and sober I went in to a christian drug treatment center.

Christian rehabs are the way to go if your looking for help with with drug or alcohol addiction. They go little bit further then the average drug treatment facility to give you the help you may need to get of active addiction or alcoholism.

Making up my mind to go to to christian drug treatment was a big step for me. I have never been one for religion or rehabs. I always thought i could fight addiction on my own. Boy was I wrong. This addict needs all the help he can get.

Christian drug treatment saved my life. I was skeptical about going to a Christian drug rehab at first. I wasnt the most religious person in the world. Christian rehabilitation just uses god as a foundation to help us be free from drugs and alcohol.

Choosing the right alcoholism treatment program boils down to who you are. If social situations make you uncomfortable, traditional alcoholism treatment programs like Alcoholics Anonymous might not be a great place to start your journey back to sobriety. If you don’t have a strong social support circle, you might need to check in to an in patient facility. If you aren’t able to take time off from work or are worried about leaving your family, you might work with an out patient clinic. Be honest with yourself. Think back to who you were before you started abusing alcohol. What kind of situations inspired you? In what environments are you most likely to thrive? These are the types of situations and environments that you want to seek out as you decide which alcoholism treatment program to invest yourself in.

Recalling that addiction is clinically defined as repeating negative behaviors despite the consequences or the risks involved and recalling also our initial categorization of our inner listeners as Absent Others we now look at addictive dialogs from within this framework. Addictive people will continue to do the same thing over agin not worrieng about the consequences. We offer help to these addicts.

It is now clinically understood that the neurotransmitter Dopamine plays a central role in addiction. Most drugs of abuse, with the exception of benzodiazepines, have a direct effect on increasing the dopamine reward cycle in the brain. So if you are convinced that you are an addict christian drug rehab can work for you.

Drug addiction is one of the most serious diseases on the planet. Left untreated, it can lead to loss of employment, friends, relationships and life. Drug addiction is complicated and simplistic ad campaigns and celebrity spokespersons rarely scratch the surface of what is really happening. Understanding addiction takes patience, education and time.

Addictions, and recovery from them, require that you actively seek help from a source other than yourself. You may want to start by consulting with your family doctor or with an addictions counselor.
