HOW DOES A FAITH-BASED COMPONENT APPLY TO AN ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS PROGRAM IN DOVER NEW JERSEY?
There are a number of ways that faith-based components matter in Alcoholics Anonymous, and a lot of the time, the organizations that provide these treatments are more than willing to allow an addict to choose a God of their choice, irrespective of which religion they follow.
In the 12-step program, there are a number of steps which need to be systematically followed if a person is going to make a full recovery from their dependency to alcohol. In this article, we are going to look at how a faith-based component applies in an Alcoholics Anonymous program.
One of the key elements in any group counseling program is to admit and realize that a drinking problem is prevalent in an addict. This is because many addicts can be in denial of their problem when they are first beginning their treatment, and so they can resist all of the help which they are given. Once this has been achieved, a person needs to realize that only a religious Power will allow a full recovery to be achieved.
Next – the person needs to put themselves in God’s hands, allowing God to put them on the road to recovery. Through prayer and worship, a person can feel safe in their religion and know that they are being looked after and that they have a prosperous future ahead of them.
However, there are plenty more steps which need to be followed each and every day of an alcoholic’s sober life. For example, an alcoholic needs to trust God implicitly to eliminate all of the things which may have made them weak and resort to alcohol in the first place, while also ensuring that a person will not be affected by those traits again in the future as they try to remain alcohol-free.
Prayer is another key component, as well as relaxation periods which can keep the levels of communication which an alcoholic might have with God fully open – allowing progress to be made over the years as a person’s faith grows stronger and stronger. It is this faith which is seen consistently throughout their lives as they proceed to help those who are less advanced in their recovery to get a head-start in their time of withdrawal following on from the help of an inpatient program.
Even though a family support mechanism can be excellent, faith-based components in an Alcoholics Anonymous program provide that little bit of extra guidance following on from rehab. With many religious organizations such as churches having regular worship on a Sunday, this can be a routine that an addict can soon come to rely on – and use during their week to sustain them from succumbing to temptation, just like every other Christian has to overcome their shortfalls. The opportunity to be loved and accepted by fellow alcoholics in a group counseling session and by other Christians in a worship session really can be the one thing that a person needs from the low self-esteem and morale alcohol can bring.

The Christian Drug Treatment program was really affective, it help me reconnect with God.I also learned alot about drug addictions and how addictions that affected peoples live.

I went to a christian drug and alcohol rehab. They taught me that God did still love me even though I did not love myself. I learned through HIM to give up my addictions one day at a time.
