Christian Faith Based Alcohol Rehabilitation

When you hear about drug proliferation, you often hear that a major chunk of the drugs were sold in the poor localities. However, taking drugs was not always cheap. It allowed the poor people to think they also could afford to spend on luxuries that the well-off spent on. When you enter a Christian rehab center, you realize how wrong the thought could be.

Drugs and the need for them have raised the crime level in many states. There are many stories in which a drug perpetrator first makes youth in a neighborhood take drugs, get dependent on it and then raises the cost. To buy the drug, the youth resorts to robbery, illegal activities and maybe even murder. This disrupts the social justice and law and order of the land.

There are too many drug addicts in the nation. Either they are not aware of it or if they are aware, they do not realize the need to get treated. For de-addiction, the rule is the sooner the better. However, many of these drug addicts get so addicted over a long time that the drugs finally kill them.

If you have a near or dear one who is addicted, you should immediately admit him/her to a drug treatment center. Even if you know someone who is not related to you in any way, as a responsible citizen, you should take some effort in trying to save that person.

There are so many drug and alcohol de-addiction centers in the country that it is almost difficult to choose. However, if you have the choice of deciding on one after thinking, then choose a Christian rehab facility over the traditional one because of exactly the one major difference, Christ.

We often go to church out of habit. We may be hearing the same old parables and sermons every Sunday. However, when we are in tough situations or going through a sad phase, we often turn to God. God cannot be seen or touched. But we know He is listening. It is this reassurance that often helps when we walk into a church during a difficult period in life. This reassurance gives us hope of a better tomorrow and gives us the courage to face the troubles that may come our way.

So, when a person is addicted to something, is losing direction in life and wants to end it because of frustration, unhappiness and disappointment, what could be more soothing than prayer or Christ?

This is the philosophy followed in Christian rehab centers. They include a stream of thought for Christ and his teachings and try to tell the patient, through Christ’s life, that all is not lost. The path he was treading on was indeed wrong but it is not something that does not have forgiveness. This rehab is giving him/her a second chance at life and s/he has to grab it because s/he has a larger purpose in life. To find it, he has to live and stay clean.

Often, society isolates addicts. Society pushes an addict into a corner and tries to repeat that s/he has done some heinous crime and there is no sympathy for him/her. However, this is one thing that could further push the addict into darkness, maybe forever.

It is difficult to deal with an addict. They can be stubborn, irritable, rude and even violent. However, one must understand that it all happens because of the addiction rather than the patient’s personality. It takes great strength on the part of family and friends to put up with an addict but the best solution is to soon get the person to a treatment center and prepare their minds for the person’s return.

Christian units function at a low cost. They charge a modest fee keeping in mind that many people who come to them may not be able to afford expensive services. As these rehab facilities get funds from the government and donors, they do not believe in charging a high rate for their services. Most of these organizations are non-profit, so minting money is not their objective.

These faith-based treatment centers offer two-fold service. Along with the medication required for the timely recovery, they also provide counseling for the mind. Besides individual and group counseling, they also provide pastoral counseling, which helps patients believe in the power of prayer and religion. It instills faith and confidence in them. Also, they provide the tools for livelihood and equip them with the knowledge required for a sober life.

The centers have a dedicated staff that will make the patient feel at home. They try and understand all the problems of each individual and through patient hearing, try and address each of them.

These faith-based facilities are designed to be cheerful and filled with positive energy. There will be lots of open space and greenery allowing a sense of peace to prevail. Physical activities are encouraged as much as creative ones.

I AM SO HAPPY THAT I DECIDED TO GO TO A FAITH BASED PROGRAM. I WAS AFRAID AT FIRST.
